Frequently Asked Questions

PEMF stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy. Think of PEMF as a battery charger for the cells. PEMF exercises the cells in a way that allows for an exchange of fluids where toxins are expelled and fresh minerals, nutrients and water enter the cells stimulating optimal function.

No and most animals find it relaxing. If turned up too high animals may find it uncomfortable and may move away, but when treated at optimal level the thumping they feel in their body is comfortable and relaxing.  Depending on how sensitive the animal is and their tolerance level for PEMF determines what level of PEMF the practitioner will use during a session.

Every animal is unique in their response to PEMF. From our experience, most animals find the treatment very relaxing. Occasionally an animal will struggle standing still in the cross ties or on the PEMF mat, but normally they become very relaxed and oftentimes almost fall asleep during the treatment.

PEMF is a cellular detox, therefore occasionally an animal will experience signs of detox. Examples of these are loose stool, drooling, minor swelling, after a treatment. Most detox is mild and takes just a few hours to correct. We recommend your animals have the opportunity to hydrate well before and after their treatment to help with the detox.

There is no set amount of time you have to wait to work your horse or dog after a treatment. I like to see people wait at least 45 minutes to allow the treatment to set in before working their animal, but you won’t hurt them by riding/training them before that time.

Absolutely! Because PEMF helps give energy to the cells, reduces inflammation, and reduces  stiffness and soreness, animals who are considered “athletes” reap a lot of benefits from PEMF. It can help after a competition with sore muscles and joints, or before to loosen the animal up and prepare them for their task.

If your animal is healthy and not experiencing any type of acute injury we recommend treating them once a month for optimal health as well as injury prevention. Horses and dogs cannot tell us if “something is hurting”, and PEMF helps heal damaged cells so they do not spread and cause more swelling and pain.  If you can heal the cells and keep them from spreading you have a much better chance of the injury healing more rapidly.

Anyone can, however we recommend the practitioner you use be certified in their field.

WARNING:  If you have any type of implanted electrical device with a battery including pacemakers, cochlear implants, intrathecal pumps, and defibrillators:  The magnetic fields can disable or shut off the devices.  If you have a device as such, you cannot be a Practitioner nor can you be in the area while PEMF treatments are being administered.
